Doing What We Love To Do Why don't we do what we love to do? Why do we avoid it? Doing what we love to do seems like it would be the simplest choice. What stops us? There are a number of reasons for this avoidance, let's look at a few of them. There is a misperception that if we are in touch with what we love to do, we will have to do something with it. We will have to accomplish something monumental, achieve something worthwhile. It will have to be useful and serviceful. This is a heavy burden that will have us avoiding doing what we love to do. We think, Now I'll have to know where this goes, now I will have to maintain it, take care of it, develop it, and be responsible for its outcome. As you can see, the burden gets heavier. We sometimes find it easier to avoid or not even be in touch with what we love to do. We end up missing the point. Doing what we love to do doesn't make life harder, it brings to life an ease and joy that has been missed, even forgotten. We don't have to figure it out; it has been awaiting our remembrance. There is another impediment to doing what we love to do. We believe it has to be perfect, inspiring, "better than." In other words it had better be good or we can't justify doing it. It has to pass the test of our family, friends, neighbors, and strangers. No wonder we avoid doing what we love to do. We offer you a consideration. Begin doing what you love to do and see where it wants to go, how it wants to express. What if you did not have to validate it, explain it, justify it? What if the fact that it is something you love to do is enough. Begin doing what you love to do and in the wonder of the moment see where it is willing to take you. In truth, we do not carry what we love to do. Doing what we love to do carries us with all its enthusiasm, energy, joy and ease, through the expression of our very being.
