1) How did you come to create Maggie's Magic Spells? It began with people asking me to make and perform spells for them. This was all very well, but because it was the client who had the strongest desire and intent, it made more sense for me to provide the magic spell in a packaged form, along with detailed instructions; to enable the client to actually 'do' the spell themselves. My spells were available in selected stores at first, but because the salespeople didn't use or understand the spells, that marketing concept was a failure. Maggie's Magic Spells are now only sold through select distributors, who must perform many of our spells in one of the "Pathway Series" of month-long life-altering spell-work, before being even considered. Aleesha Stephenson, Promotion and Distribution Manager, is eminently qualified and does a superb job by assisting clients in choosing the most effective spell(s) for their needs. 2) Were you raised Wiccan? How did you find your path in this belief system? Born into and raised by a family who accepted the "sixth sense," animal communication and "knowing stuff before it happened," as a normal part of life; I was a teenager before I discovered our way of living actually had a name ~ "Wicca" or "The Craft of the Wise." I then studied in the Alexandrian and Gardnerian traditions, but found the solitary eclectic path a more fulfilling way to live with the tenets of my personal Code of Conduct; the most important part of which is the Wiccan Rede; "an it harm none, do as ye will." 3) You also teach...what do you teach and why did you choose teaching as part of your path? Kindergarten. Wiccan kindergarten, that is. We call the course "Wicca 101" and it is specially designed for the novice who needs a place to start. I also teach Firewalking, ~ one of my greatest joys ~ which literally empowers others to 'do the impossible'. I am as much of a student as I am a teacher, because every person who comes to me to learn, also teaches me. It is as natural an exchange as breathing. I live to serve, and in strengthening others I fulfil my own purpose. The Goddess doesn't always make it easy though; there are days when it can be a genuine struggle to hold compassion and love uppermost in my heart. Being human is a joyful but challenging experience, and all we can do is the very best we can, on a day-to-day basis. Having the Wiccan Code of Conduct to live by is a great help. 5) Your latest endeavour is becoming Copy Editor of Body Mind Spirit. Can you share with us how that opportunity came to be? Through my daughter, actually. I have been serving as copy editor for Aleesha Stephenson's books, columns, and articles, for some years; and more recently, for Jeni Mayer on her last book, as well as her current one. So I've actually been 'here' behind the scenes for quite a while; and it seems like a natural progression to be copy editing for all the writers at Body, Mind, Spirit Magazine. I am honoured to be on staff, in the company of such interesting and diverse talent. Maggie Frost is the Copy Editor for Body, Mind, Spirit Magazine. An English major and dedicated perfectionist, she delights in the intricacies and subtle nuances of the English language. Maggie has done copy editing for D.J. Conway, Tira Brandon-Evans, Jeni Mayer, Salmo & District Hospice Society, West Kootenay Therapeutic Riding Association, The Pagan Grove Society, and The Salmo Newspaper. Maggie is also a published author in her own right, having written articles for many newspapers and magazines.
