Feelings/Emotions |

There have been significant changes in the scientific community toward the understanding of illness. One of those changes is the idea that sickness is not something that happens by accident or is imposed by Divine Providence. It has been discovered that the abuse of human emotions, and our inability to express our feelings and emotions, is the cause of illness. If the emotion is positive, that is the message we send to our body; if the emotion is negative, it is immediately detrimental to the body. I want to emphasize that one or two negative thoughts and emotions will not necessarily cause illness; it's the continual negative programming we give ourselves, over and over again, that begins to depress the immune system. It is known that people who are unable to express a wish or emotion (that is left-brain activity) will express it unconsciously through some kind of functional loss on the left side of the body. In reality there is nothing wrong with them physically, but because they are unable to work through and talk about emotion, that emotion becomes symbolically transformed into a loss of bodily function, usually neurological. They may go blind in one eye, usually the left eye, or experience a lack of sensation on the entire left side of the body. They don't understand the importance of expressing honest emotion, and as a result the emotion is transferred down into their body. Some scientists believe that this is the essence of what causes illness. The inability to talk about –or sometimes even to recognize--emotions that we may feel intensely will eventually become a symptom, and ultimately illness. People whose emotional left brain is bottled up are often disconnected from their bodies. They may not feel much bodily pain, but they're not able to feel much pleasure, either. Our negative thoughts can be changed to positive thoughts. Having said this, I want to stress that changes only occur when we are willing to become involved with our own life. Many of us prefer to involve ourselves in other people's lives; that way, we don't have to think about ourselves. We go through life grieving for our lost selves, we become depressed and we don't know why. But when we become consciously engaged in our own lives, we become aware of the wonderful gift we bring to the world, the gift of ourselves. Dr. Deepak Chopra says, "Inside every person is a God in embryo. It has only one desire. It wants to be born." We all come here with a memory of perfection – who we are is perfection. Negative energy of any kind covers over our memory of perfection, and so negativity creates a false self. We begin to believe that this false self is who we really are. So, have you ever wondered who you are? Where is the perfect being that you are? He/she is inside you, waiting to be discovered. You begin the discovery process by accepting who you are today and making any changes that you want to make, accepting that you have a right to your emotions, whatever they are, and you have a right to express those emotions in appropriate ways, such as talking about your feelings. When you change your negative thoughts about yourself to positive thoughts, you change your energy (energy follows thought). As Edgar Cayce put it, "Mind is the builder." You will begin to be in harmony with yourself, and the more in harmony you are, the closer you are to the perfection of you – the real you. You will experience more love, peace, and joy than you ever thought possible. Disease in any form is the result of unresolved negative feelings that are repressed or suppressed. These unresolved negative emotions create stress, and stress is now the number-one killer in the world. The more you learn to love yourself, the easier it is to love others. Love is the most powerful energy on earth.
