You Can Promote Your Business Authentically - Without Selling

When building your business, you must do is promote it. Promoting your business can bring up the fear of rejection, the fear of judgment, and it can feel like you're intruding. Here are a few ways to promote your business authentically.

When you are building a holistic business, one thing you must do is promote it. You have to get your name out there in order for people to find you and to know what you offer. Promoting your business, or selling yourself can certainly invoke fear. You might feel the fear of rejection, or fear of judgment. And, it can feel intrusive, or the selling process can feel unnatural.

It is possible to promote yourself without the fear, without intruding on people, and without feeling like you are selling. Here are three tips to help you promote your business authentically.

1. Define a target market. It's probably true that anyone can use your products or services. But that's going to make advertising very difficult. If you select a group of people to focus on, you have a better chance of your voice being heard. For example, if you choose stay-at-home moms as your target market, instead of papering your city with fliers, you can post fliers only in places where you know stay-at-home moms might see them. And, you can create a marketing message that speaks directly to them.

2. Remember, you are here to serve the people that need you. That is why you were led to start your business. There are clients who need you, you must tell them about your business, and that you are available to serve them. Business doesn't subscribe to the belief that if you build it, they will come. You must take an active role in letting your niche know you're here and what you can do to serve them.

3. Not everyone is going to need your services right now. Just because people don't respond to your marketing message the first time you put it out, doesn't mean they aren't interested. It takes someone at least 9 times to see your message before they notice it. And, if they aren't in need of your services right now, they may wait to contact you. Be sure you have a way for people to stay in touch with you. You can create a blog, or e-zine that people can subscribe to. That way, they won't forget about you when they are ready for your services.

4. There are some very effective, non-invasive ways to promote yourself. You can become involved in online or offline networking groups. You can write an e-zine that is of interest to your niche. Use a brief letter to introduce your business to everyone you know. Create a blog. You can also create a workshop that you can teach online or offline.

Remember, promoting your business takes time. It's not a one shot deal. Choose marketing activities that you enjoy and repeat them. You will see results. Universe will rise up to support you in your effort, but you have to take the first steps. Begin your journey and see what doors open for you!
