Alternative Fibromyalgia Remedy Quickly Alleviates Pain but is Being Ignored by Fibromyalgia Sufferers |
|
For years people suffered from the life stealing pain of fibromyalgia while the medical community remained at a complete loss as to what it was or what to even call it. These people were dismissed. They were told that it is all in their heads. When the label "fibromyalgia" was created, both the medical community and suffering population rejoiced that there was at last something to call "it". The drugs to treat this newly identified condition were not far behind and despite horrific side effects, those suffering with fibromyalgia embraced the drugs as a possible way to eliminate their very real suffering. Finally, their condition was being validated by not only the medical community that just yesterday denied its existence but the pharmaceutical industry as well. Fibro patients also embraced these drugs because, sadly, they had been saddled with the "fact" that there is no cure for fibromyalgia and they were desperate for relief. This coupled with the "authority" of the medical community has led people to opt in on these drugs left and right. It is easy to substantiate that this is true. Simply visit any fibro forum to see all the posts about fibro drug experiences. There are myriads of posts about other pain relief regiments as well. These methods involve nutritional supplements, massage, acupuncture, reiki and exercise. All of these do relieve the symptoms to varying degrees but they also require a complete commitment to some pretty extensive lifestyle changes. Some of these changes require quite a lot of self discipline, are very expensive on a monthly basis and are yet another way of separating the fibro patient out from the non-suffering world. A lot these regiments are custom creations by a person who has suffered for years and has found just the right combination to relieve his/her pain. These individuals become models of inspiration to countless others. Although these methods do work, the results vary between individuals. These methods also only address the symptoms. So, what do we have so far? We have a condition that was too vague to be diagnosed by the medical community for years (it is all in your head) that has finally been validated by both the medical and drug world (even recent research that shows the neurons in the skin of fibro patients is different, validates the syndrome). And we have vast amounts of people who have had their pain dismissed for years but who have now become well respected because of the abuse and pain they have endured and in many cases overcome. The pain of fibromyalgia is life stealing but it has also become a badge of courage. And even though this is difficult to say because of the possible anger that might be evoked, I believe that to a certain extent that there is a huge secondary gain for some individuals to maintain fibromyalgia as an incurable syndrome. By this I mean that there is a psychological benefit derived by being seen as an inspiration, leader or just plain sufferer. Why do I say this? Our office does a great job of ridding people of fibromyalgia pain - but the numbers of "takers" are few. We have even posted a video testimonial online to intrigue others. We offered free treatment in return for a testimonial to more than 50 individuals at a church fair and countless others through emails and forum posts. No one responded. This is a no drug, no regiment, low cost method. No one responded. Why? Disbelief? Suspicion? The loss of secondary gain? I wonder why these people will not at least investigate. Why not call the people who have been helped? There are no side effects and no on going costs. I remain completely puzzled.
