Do-It-Yourself Homeopathy for Moms "Matching Personality Pictures"

Nobody knows the personality of one’s child better than moms. Some of us have the thin, active child who is always climbing and bumping into things. Others have the placid child who sits happily and plays without interference.

Many mothers today are searching for healthy ways to treat common illnesses in their children. Homeopathy is the natural choice. Homeopathy is wonderful, natural medicine which takes a holistic focus when treating common health conditions. This means that always the whole personality is considered, even in acute illnesses such as the common earache. It can seem a daunting task to treat one’s own family using what appears to be a complicated, time-consuming approach. In reality, it’s not all that difficult. Nobody knows the personality of one’s child better than moms. Some of us have the thin, active child who is always climbing and bumping into things. Others have the placid child who sits happily and plays without interference.

When ill, children often display different behavior pictures. It is these pictures moms see that help determine which homeopathic medicine to administer to their children when ill. For an example of a “picture”, let’s consider the typical picture of the remedy Pulsatilla nigricans. This remedy is often given to children with earaches. The child behaves in this way…..he/she is clingy and wants to be held by mom. The child is gentle and weepy. There is quiet whining and crying in a whimpering way. They are not thirsty when ill but may want ice cream. The earache may begin in the evening but the child seems better in the fresh air, worse in a stuffy, warm room. The ear lobe may be swollen. If your child with an earache behaves this way, the remedy Pulsatilla would be given in the 30ch dose level. If the child is old enough to take little pellets in the mouth, give 4 pellets and have the child suck on them until dissolved. Give this every hour up to five doses, but if the child seems to improve after only one dose, stop giving more until indicated. If the remedy is a good one for this, within about 1-4 doses, the child will show obvious signs of improvement such as lowering of fever, wanting to play, having an appetite and of course not complaining about the ear.

For another example, here is another very different picture of a child with an earache. Consider Chamomilla vulgaris for the child with temper tantrums during ear problems. The child who will benefit from this remedy will have certain characteristic behaviors. This child is angry, pushes away things, rejecting all that is offered. They may be very demanding and can be rather violent with any painful conditions. They may not want to be touched or looked at. An odd sign is one cheek may be red and the other pale. Ears are sensitive to cold winds and this may be the cause of one. The ear is also sensitive to touch because the child in general is sensitive to pain. This child is thirsty for cold drinks. If this picture fits, use the same dose and procedure to treat as in the Pulsatilla case.

Here in the above two examples, you can see the marked difference in how different children with different personalities when ill behave with an earache. Nobody knows one’s children better than moms. Therefore Homeopathy is a lovely, gentle and effective way to treat common health problems. The beauty of this system of natural medicine is the speed in which it works. I have seen one dose of Ipecac stop vomiting in a baby who was reacting to the introduction of a new food. It is worthwhile for new moms to become acquainted with Homeopathy. It can save a lot of time and worry and once the speed and accuracy of it is seen, it will become a household staple.

You can purchase home remedy kits from local pharmacies that sell homeopathic medicines. These give guidelines as to indications for use. Don’t be concerned about hurting your child. If the remedy is not the right one, nothing will happen. If it is the right one, wonders happen and quickly. To this end, don’t neglect your close connections with family doctors for diagnoses and lab work, but if you want to try going natural for your child, read about and investigate homeopathy.
