Tranformational Tales

What is my purpose in creating this article about Transformational Tales? My intention is to introduce to you a practice that has been utilized since man's earliest stage of development to create a bond within their group. Indigenous people engaged in a practice of storytelling that was far more than just entertainment. These stories were very much transformational tales in that they provided the members of the clan a template upon which they could build their sense of who they were and what they stood for. This is something that I feel we are badly in need of today. I'm sure some of you have sensed it as well?

I have a perception that we have as a culture been drifting on this vast ocean of life without a compass! We have lost our ability to navigate and as a result we have become very fragmented. Many of us are trying to make a difference and others are seeking answers. That brings me to the next observation and I am sure you will agree that there is seemingly more information being directed towards us now than at any time in our history. How are you handling this flow of opinion? Are you able to drink it in from all directions and find the value that you are seeking? Some are able to do this though many use this information to create a world for themselves that is becoming more isolated and polarized. If this is the case then I have to ask you what purpose does this serve.

The constitution clearly uses the term "We the people" to refer to a country that aspires to unity not the divisiveness that exists today. We as a nation are capable of greatness and we may have become mediocre. If you feel anger arise as I speak these words it is understandable! Anger itself is a tool that we can use for self-discovery, and I celebrate the courage of anyone who is willing to look beyond this defense mechanism. Once past this gatekeeper we begin to discover who we are and what we truly stand for. Can you state clearly the answers to these two questions? If you can do so without slogans and rhetoric you will understand where I am heading. This is where we take that proverbial trip down the rabbit hole!

We live in a world of make believe where truth is manufactured to fit the particular ideology of the day! If you are a conspiracy theorist don't get excited, as I am not going there. We are willing participants in this ruse that is being perpetrated! Before we point fingers we have to be willing to look at what part that we play in all of this. What role did we assign ourselves today? Were we predators or prey? If you feel abhorred by the thought just look around you at all of the behaviors that you see acted out in a single day at work and play.

Observation is one key to solving this riddle because if we can't see it than we may be participants in an unconscious life. Once we start to truly see and hear the intent behind words we are able to begin the process of taking responsibility for our thoughts, words, actions and therefore our lives. I hope that this first article has caught your attention, as we will continue to venture more deeply into the causality of this seeming societal dysfunction and the process we can use to extricate ourselves from it.
