There is little doubt that recent events in the States, and around the world, have left many of us feeling lost and disillusioned. Our safe little world no longer feels quite as safe, quite as secure. I personally never envisioned the day when I would be raising my children on a continent poised for war. The tragic events in the USA has forced me to re-evaluate those things that I hold dearest to me, as many of you are doubtless doing yourselves. This re-evaluation, if anything, has strengthened my belief that all of us need to embrace healing, positivity, and alternative solutions in our lives. As I read over the many wonderfully inspiring articles in this edition, I realized that so very many others share this view. Many of the articles, though the writers had followed no planned theme, were writing about positive alternatives, and shifting focus from the "material world" to the spiritual world. Aleesha Stephenson's column "Living Magically: The Life of a Witch in the 21st Century" is a perfect example of this outlook. Aleesha teaches us that there are greater priorities in this life than financial wealth and that by living with integrity, honesty and truth, we can all obtain spiritual wealth -- the kind that really matters! Likewise, Taron Puri and Kerry Tynan have valuable things to say about focusing on inspiration and having a positive outlook in all our daily actions and our words. I never planned the October edition to follow a postivity theme -- ironically, that's what developed as the articles flowed in. Patricia Barclay's regular column was a bit of seredipidy as well. She teaches us how to live rapturously just by tapping in to our own "mental transport" -- creating our own joyous space. Finally, this month I am pleased to introduce you to two wondeful new columnists. Derek Wilken's first humour article appears in this issue. This is a don't miss piece of work! Derek is someone who knows how to laugh despite life's sometimes less-than-perfect curves. As well, many of you will be happy to meet Heather Zais. Heather's introductory piece on Dream Analysis provides the basic tools needed to analyse your own dreams. And for those who want an experienced anaysis, Heather will be writing a regular column that analyzes the dreams of any readers who wants to send them in. All in all, the October edition of Body Mind Spirit Magazine has something for everyone. I hope that you will enjoy the many thought-provoking articles. Namaste,
