Dream Quest

Dear Heather,

For many years, I have had a re-occuring dream that is really disturbing.

I hope you can help me to unravel the dream so that I can understand it's meaning.

Here is the dream:

I am surrounded by small children. They are very beautiful and wearing long white robes. Their skin is almost translucent. The children are circling me, and as they draw nearer, I begin to get a very oily feeling on my skin. It is almost as though I can feel evil coming off of them. The hair on the back of my neck stands up. As I look down at them as they approach, they begin to smile and I see that their teeth are actually sharp and needle-like. It is at this point that I usually awake, feeling terrified. I also feel as though my skin is covered with an oily, and evil substance that I cannot wash off.

I hope that you can help to illuminate the meaning of this dream.

Dear Troubled,

Word association is a big part of dream analysis. Dreams are symbols and create skits or dramatic productions to bring things into focus. These dramas are a safety valve. The help let off steam or give plausable solutions.

Your dream is re-occuring. It "sticks" to you.

The image of being surrounded by your children can refer to childish behavior of those around you.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You were struck by their beauty. This means that you see these people in a better light than they deserve.

You see their skin as translucent. This can indicate being thin-skinned. It can also mean being able to see through them.

You are able to feel their inner intensions, even though it may be hidden behind a pretense of childlike innocence.

The feeling of evil can also represent feelings of resentment. You are trying your best to do something good. You have worked long and hard, but there are those who are jealous and wish to bring you down or get in the way of your progress, etc.

You have stuck "your neck" out. The hairs standing up on the back of your neck in the dream is your intuition warning you of this opposition. The sharp, needle-like teeth of the children, represents the words being used against you and the gossip, etc.

In the dream you are looking down at them. This means you are actually above them and their behavior. This is good.

The feeling of not being able to wash off the presence indicates it will be hard to overcome the damage they have done or to "wash them off." You must remain in your position above them and you will achieve ultimate success. Their behavior locks them into a level below you.

This is all a part of life. Have confidence in yourself, stay focused. These "children" will eventually find someone else to trash. Don't give them the attention that they seek.

Take care who you let close to you. Surround yourself with good and positive people. Their energy will work as a shield for you.

Don't take things so seriously, as it is a waste of your time and energy. Intentions of the heart are all that matters. Dismiss the rest.
