Resolve to Renew Your Sacred Space

Happy New Year!

As I contemplated the topic for this article, it seemed quite clear it would be easy to discuss resolutions.

I grabbed the dictionary and looked up the word resolution and was intrigued by its definition and also its similarity to the processes I have shared throughout the last year on creating Sacred Space.

Here is what I found in regards to the meaning of resolution:

  1. decomposition, analysis
  2. solving doubt, problem, question
  3. formal expression of opinion
  4. intentions that one formulates mentally for virtuous conduct 5. boldness and firmness of purpose

Even if you received those glow in the dark boxers, box of new socks, or that new comfy chair, you will probably be rearranging a few things to make room for the new. In the process you may analyze what you no longer need and you may notice there has been some serious decomposition going on. Not only is there no elastic left in your socks but with closer analysis, there are holes on both the top and bottom. You may also notice you are sinking just a little bit closer to the floor every time you sit in that old chair! You know it is really time to let go of the old and make room for the new. With an open mind and expanded awareness, I suggest you resolve to walk around your home and/or office and see what may need some repair, a new coat of paint, look at what things bring you down or just do some simple cleaning. There are many ways you can fix or freshen up your space without spending lots of money, although that too is often a topic for analysis and possible decomposition. Making the old look newer always lifts your spirits which affects your homes' spirit as well.

If resolve includes solving doubt, questioning and finding solutions, I encourage you to face this completely. Doubt is one of the greatest forms of decomposition I know of, and peoples lives outpicture this continually and almost effortlessly. We have such an ingrained program of disbelief in our own power that we sabotage so many of our resolutions almost the same time we state them! See how we create what we experience with thought? At some point you are going to have to let go of doubt and allow faith to enter into your life and world. Faith is the knowing that you can make all things new! Without a doubt! At times there arise definite problems during the analysis stage and letting go may not be a possible solution. Being able to question and problem solve are key methods in life.

The outer situations always have an inner cause and it is from this place that one must take time to look, become aware and resolve to express our opinions despite what others may think. Expressing and being our true self can often be the biggest challenge we face! Our lives have been fodder for many others to condemn, judge, and ridicule making renewal and change a difficult process. Begin to use the space you live in as a tool or barometer for seeing yourself. So go ahead and try to really observe your space and be honest about how you feel about it. A really good idea is to ask a few best friends what their impressions are when they enter your space. This can help affirm your own observations or assist you in seeing new aspects of yourself you may be unaware of. It is from awareness that we begin to express ourselves more consciously. So often we are in denial, blame others and are closed to other viewpoints that we continue to create unconsciously, only wondering why some things never change! Your space too can become a very rigid expression , where order and perfection is the only way, or it may express the opposite where order is too overwhelming and so is taking control of your life or your dreams. It is then you can use your space to out picture desires you have in your life.

Our spaces clearly are the canvases we can use to formally express our opinions about who we are, how we see the world and what we believe. I truly love the people who invite me into their spaces and share with me their desires, hardships and hesitations. Their space always confirms the latter two, but most people leave out their desires or really skim out on the possibilities for what they desire. For some reason their belief about the future is that it is unpredictable and left to fate, chance or destiny.

The definition of resolution includes intentions that one formulates mentally for virtuous conduct. To use the mental body is only part of the inner power we can use to make all things new. Intentions are good but only as potent as our knowing and understanding of ourselves is. Power is fueled by wisdom and love. These 3 aspects of our being are what create our future life. Wisdom does not lie in knowledge. Knowledge does not include experience. We can store a lot of facts but if we cannot demonstrate this, it has little value in our lives. Wisdom is demonstrating our intentions. Our spaces can be a powerful tool for transformation and creating what we desire in our life. This can be achieved by using intention at the Soul level. It is from this level healing can be achieved and our lives become filled with the harmony and wholeness that we desire. It takes a lot of love to accomplish this and I suggest that you resolve to base all your intentions in love - even when you would rather not. True love is not really fully understood in our world at this time, but we are making progress. Funny how tragedies and crisis can help pull us into this space? You can get there without the crisis if you desire. Whatever it is you desire for your life can be expressed in your home and with your intentions coming from the Sacred Space within, you can make your Space Sacred. You can have the desires of your heart.

Finally, resolution includes boldness and firmness of purpose! Let's go with one scenario. Maybe this is the year you are going to lose that weight once and for all. To anchor your desire and dedication to your quest, create an altar where you have objects, pictures, etc. that make you feel healthy. Find a picture of yourself at a time in your life where you felt happy, strong, determined, confident about life and maybe just a bit skinnier. Find objects that represent health to you. This can be so many things, and I'll give you some ideas you can pick from. A healthy plant, strong, green and blooming with beautiful flowers - remember health is beauty. A beautiful picture of happy people playing or relaxing. If you want to be more active, pick a picture of people playing, if you need to slow down use the picture of relaxation. Sometimes our lives are filled with too many people and not enough time and space for ourselves. A beautiful picture of nature can represent the balance without the people. If you have a particular disease or health issue find pictures or models of healthy tissue or organs so you have a clear visual of what a healthy heart, lungs, joints, skin, etc. looks like. It is from this picture of perfection that you recreate this in your body as you allow your own body to absorb the perfect image and give direction to restore and rejuvenate it as such. It is good to know what the state of perfection looks like. Choose icons or deities that you believe in and ask for their guidance and support during this quest. Perhaps you have a symbol of your own reward when you have achieved what you desire such as, a $500.00 shopping spree for new clothes, a holiday or trip to see someone special. Place this on your altar as well as inspiration to achieve your goal.

You have outpictured your intent and as you see it and walk by it often on a daily basis this becomes a powerful message to anchor your desires deep within you and assist you in creating this possibility in your future. Where intention goes, energy flows. You can make or unmake your future! Lastly, you must carry your intention to the Soul level and give it to your Higher Self to create and know that what you desire will be. Let no one take that away from you. In fact if you have anything from the people who sabotage you the most, remove the items immediately. Life must be lived from the level of the Soul or we will continue to do laps - which is, nothing changes and you will deal with the same old, same old and yes, you will be on the weight loss treadmill again and again and again. These aren't the laps I want you to run!

You are a Divine Human and the understanding of this will allow you to demonstrate the desires of your heart and you will live in a magical world. Maybe Harry Potter is a good role model? There have been many Masters showing us our magical powers, but we continue to use our human mind to understand and yes, we run laps. Resolve to make this the year that the only laps you will run are the ones that take you to a higher thought program, a complete experience of healing, and a new understanding of your truth so you may demonstrate the miracles you desire in your life.

While this will be my only article this year, I look forward to sharing with you further by consultation and workshops as to how you can enter Sacred Space within, to make your Space Sacred.
