Julie Desmarais

If I were to describe what I do, I would say I am somewhat of an enigma.

Over the years my clients have known me as different things: Holographic Energy Worker, Emotional Intuitive and Pure Potential Reader.

Essentially, my gift of clairvoyance allows me to communicate with someone's Higher Self by seeing into and interpreting the energy in the electromagnetic energy field (aura/hologram) of a client.

The energy fields surrounding the physical body are like encyclopedias which contain all of the soul's history - karma, mental beliefs, emotional baggage, the soul's purpose, the dominant archetypes, the divine essence, animal totems, etc. Everything that has ever happened during the soul's journey is recorded there. It is one big energy matrix.

What led me to working in the healing arts is an interesting question? The simple answer is a visitation by an angel when I was 22. She told me my life purpose was to start a large scale holistic cancer clinic. My self-esteem was super low back then after coming out of an emotionally and mentally abusive relationship. I told the angel, "I'll fulfill my purpose but you will have to help me, as I could never do this alone".. The Angel smiled brightly and I felt a warm, comforting glow pour over me. "It's all right my child," she responded, "everything you need will be shown to you; the financial resources, the people, the property, etc. Thank you for your courage and dedication to the light," and then she vanished. Now I had to wait for the signs and, of course, most importantly, act when intuitively guided to act. Easier said than done I thought, but I agreed that I would do my best to fulfill this destiny and some years later I was invited to help create a holistic clinic in a neighboring city. It was then that my gifts began to manifest themselves in my life, and the lives of my clients.

When I meet a client, the client normally poses questions to his or her higher self and I become the channel (an energy interpreter of sorts). Here is an example with a male client we will call Charlie. Charlie came to see me out of desperation. He said he had tried just everything and nothing was helping his state of depression. He wanted to know, "what does my Higher Self have to say about this depression?" I start all sessions with a prayer to the Creator asking that if it is in the highest good of this individual at this time, that an answer/understanding comes forth from the question posed. I then begin to focus the energy of Reiki (Universal Life Force) through my hands and into the client's aura. Immediately, pictures start coming forward on my screen: most of the pictures are symbolic or metaphorical, like putting a puzzle together.

The first picture I received with Charlie was the number 8; the second was the energy of humiliation swirling around his emotional body; and, the third was the word LOSER deeply etched into his skin across the front of his body. When I shared this information with Charlie and asked him, "What does this information mean to you?" He responded, "When I was eight, I failed Grade 3. I became the laughing stock of my neighborhood and home. My father never let me forget what an embarrassment I was to the family and what a loser I was." Charlie, who was now in his mid 40's, was still carrying this emotional charge of "Loser" in his energy system, and it went skin deep. It was affecting his relationships (he had had two failed marriages and his kids wouldn't talk to him), his career and his health were in decline. No wonder Charlie was depressed. Inside was a very wounded little boy who never felt that he could do anything right and this energetic pattern had followed him for his entire life. The energy work we did together that day helped him to transmute this pattern and get on with his life.

After 8 years of full-time practice, the basis for my healing work has now evolved to the point where it involves accessing my clients' true essence. When we were born, we started out pure, untainted and whole. Our soul brought amazing gifts, talents and abilities with us into this incarnation. The aboriginal peoples honored these gifts by naming a child a name that would empower these gifts - Dances with Wolves, Red Cloud, Deer Heart, Eagle Soaring, Dove Spirit, etc. This data comes by many names - Divine Essence, Pure Potential, True Self, Higher Self, God Self, etc. In the energy field this data clairvoyantly can take the form of animals, birds, aspects from nature, movie stars, cartoon characters, etc. Unfortunately, in this culture we are not trained to honor and embrace our essence. As a result, many people have trouble accessing their potential because it has become so layered with mental/emotional baggage. By age 2 we entered the consciousness of TERRIBLE TWO, and began to learn that it really was not okay to be ourselves. We should be more like _______(fill in the blank). We should not cry so much, we should not color outside of the lines, and the list goes on.. Now our ego comes along and creates a bunch of ego personalities to compensate for how bad we feel for not being more perfect versus just being ourselves. As we grow older, the repressed feelings, i.e. grief, anger, hurt, resentment, frustration, irritation, etc. gets freeze-framed into the aura. My gift allows me to see through this morass and touch the essence of my clients' soul. The following story describes this quite nicely.

I have a lovely client who we will call Monique, who had suffered from low self-esteem all of her life. During her session with me she explained her concern about her live-in boyfriend who she felt was harassing her mentally and emotionally. When I asked her why she did not stand up to him and confront him about it, she started to cry and, as the tears welled up, I saw a tremendous amount of fear being released from her aura. I then witnessed a vision of her as a three-year-old girl being told to shut up and stop crying by her father. She realized, in that moment, that at age three she made an unconscious decision that crying was not appropriate behavior and that standing up to a man meant she was being a "very bad girl".. Since then, she had not been able to confront her own feelings about her capacity to realize her personal objectives, or the ill feelings of others that she perceived. At age three she began to develop the "good girl archetype" to compensate for thinking she was such a "bad girl." As she continued to cry and release some of this old programming, a lot of guilt, grief, shame, hurt, resentment, etc. was released from her aura and suddenly I got a vision of Monique as Xena, the Goddess warrior. There she was, Xena, breastplate, sword, powerful, gorgeous, sexy, bold projecting energy that said "don't mess with me, if you know what's good for you!" Moniques has never been the same since. Within two weeks she dumped her abusive boyfriend and has never looked back. She made a decision in my office that day that instead of giving her power away to her "low self-esteem/bad girl" persona she would, in future, give the Xena part of her the power.

I make use of a number of unique talents in my work -- communicating with the higher selves of my clients' with my gift of clairvoyance, empathic skills, ability to speak to souls on the other side, accessing "pure potential"(soul's essence in the form of animal totems, archetypes, aspects of nature, etc.), accessing/clearing past life trauma, and transmuting/clearing emotional/mental baggage that keeps people stuck. I discovered these abilities in my late teens and early twenties. At that time I had been quite ill with bouts of blacking out, chronic fatigue, allergies to everything, ongoing bladder, throat and bronchial infections, arthritic pain, and chest pain. I had visited seven different doctors and except for treating the symptoms of my maladies by giving me antibiotics and other drugs I grew more and more ill. I turned to holistic health and my whole life changed. I got my energy back, and the allergies and infections disappeared. I felt alive again. As a result I co-founded an organization called "The Ottawa Holistic Living Association" (OHLA). That was back in the early 80's. Over the next decade I learned everything I could about alternative and energy medicine. It began a passionate hobby.

I took many, many courses. When I began my practice as a Reflexologist my business partner insisted that I learn Reiki (Japanese art of hands on healing). I really resisted, as in the past when doing energy work I seemed to always pick up the depression, sore neck or whatever the malady was from the person I was working on. She advised that when you learn Reiki, you bring Universal life energy through you, not your personal energy. I finally succumbed and within 24 hours of my initiation to Reiki my third eye opened right up and I began seeing into auras. Reiki enhances your natural gifts. I knew I was empathic but had no idea how gifted I was with clairvoyance although at that point I really did not understand what the heck was going in. Thanks to healers like Barbara Brennan, "Hands of Light," Carolyn Myss, "Anatomy of the Spirit," my Reiki Masters and other amazing mentors in my life I had the inspiration and courage to take these gifts and start a Holographic Energy Healing Practice almost 8 years ago now.

Often the pictures I see in the aura are located right in a particular chakra. This brief story illustrates what I am speaking of. A male client came in to see me hoping I could help him with depression. As I directed the energy of Universal Life Force into his aura my hands were immediately drawn to his heart chakra (the centre of love, forgiveness, compassion and acceptance). His heart chakra (on the emotional level of his aura) was quite distorted, a healthy chakra spins clockwise. His was barely spinning at all. I continued to direct energy into the chakra with the intention of clearing the great pain I sensed there. As is did this, I received an image of a 20 foot brick wall around his heart. The next image was a tall, blond female in a short leather skirt. I shared the images and the intense pain I was sensing from this chakra. He got very upset and his whole aura turned a dark, muddy red indicating to me he was holding a great deal of anger underneath that pain. It turns out this woman was his ex-wife who he caught in bed with another man. Our session together allowed him to release the trauma in his emotional body, forgive her and finally move on.

If there is one overriding message found in my work it is "mere survival is not the sole purpose of our lives." I came to this conclusion because as I worked with client after client, underneath all of the emotional/mental/karmic baggage I encountered their higher self would always show me at least a glimmer of their potential. An archetype or a part of the client's pure potential that would give the client hope and let him/her know that they were so much more than the intense fear, anxiety, etc they were walking with.

Today I operate a very unique and successful holistic health centre in Ottawa that began 3 1/2 years ago. I wanted to create a mini downtown sanctuary where my clients could come and find peace and hope. So I rented this wonderful space in a funky part of town called Elgin Street. Working with me in the centre are the Angels in Action on Elgin team, Joanna McMillan, Donna Anderson and Jennifer Clark. They are three absolutely outstanding healing facilitators and together we are committed to providing the public with affordable individual and workshop style sessions that promote increased health, well-being, prosperity, peace, hope and enlightenment. Together we provide a Spiritual Spa Day. Their services are provided in more detail at the end of this article.

I also teach all levels of Reiki, including Reiki Master Teacher Trainer Program and a Holographic Energy Program to train my clients to do what I do (interpreting/reading the energy in the human hologram). I also public speak every chance I get. As well, I co-authored a book with my husband Richard Jackman called "The Energy Connection" which is soon to be published and I am working on a second book called the Power of Pure Potential. If I could offer one last bit of advice to the 'beginning' healers, it would be: THANK THE UNIVERSE DAILY FOR SHOWING YOU HOW YOU CAN BEST USE YOUR TALENTS, GIFTS AND ABILITIES TO BE OF SERVICE TO OTHERS. DON'T QUIT. DEVELOP YOUR CONFIDENCE BY HAVING MORE FAITH AND TRUST IN YOUR CREATOR AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - REMEMBER THAT YOU DO NOT DO THE HEALING. YOU ARE SIMPLY THE VESSEL FOR HEALING ENERGY. GET OUT OF THE WAY LET THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE OF THE GOD FORCE FLOW THROUGH YOU WITH THE INTENTION THAT THE HEALING IS IN THE HIGHEST GOOD OF THE CLIENT VERSUS WHAT YOUR EGO THINKS SHOULD HAPPEN. LET GO AND LET GOD!

Jennifer Clark

Jennifer Clark is an energetic and dynamic Wayshower for others showing you safe and fun ways of connecting to the vast “spiritual internet” that is easily accessible by all who seek it. She is an Angel Therapy Practitioner (ATP) and is currently one of only 4 practicing in Ontario. Joanna McMillan

Joanna McMillan, Natural Health Counsellor and Reiki Master, uses the modality of deep tissue massage to release stress and energy blocks. As her clients sink into a state of relaxation a sometimes unconscious, mental and emotional connection is made between the brain and specific muscle tissue which is found to be tense and stressed. This then can be brought to the conscious attention of the client. Awareness of stress or imbalance is the first step towards physical, mental and emotional health. To further expedite the journey to well being and self mastery, Joanna offers studies in Shamanism. A student herself of native teachers and Elders for several years, Joanna opens the doorway to explore the magic and mystery of ancient cultures that teach us how to connect with the wisdom of mother earth. Joanna is currently co-organizing a two week intensive spiritual journey and adventure to connect with the ancient Maya knowledge in the Yucatan biosphere Sian Kaan. This will be offered the last two weeks in March. It is an opportunity for those at a mastery level to sit in council in the land of the ancient ones.

Donna Anderson

Donna Anderson is a Certified Natural Health Practitioner whose background includes working as a Registered Nurse, Environmental Medicine, and Ayurvedic Medicine (teaching and administering treatments). Five years ago she began her studies in Osteopathy and now has her own practice while still continuing to expand her knowledge in that field. Osteopathy involves treating with the hands and treating the body as a whole. It recognizes the body’s innate powers of self healing. The soft tissues - muscles, ligaments and fascia as well as the fluids, boney structure are all addressed. Cranio-sacral Therapy is an integral part of Osteopathic treatment. The types of problems that Osteopathy effectively treats include trauma from car accidents, whiplash, carpal tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, migraines, back pain, neck pain as well as digestive and menstrual problems. It can be very useful in enhancing the comfort of expectant mothers during their pregnancy and also in helping to ensure as smooth and normal a delivery as possible.
