Living Magically: The Life of a Witch in the 21st Century |
|
Sometimes when you desire a change in your life, bringing in a new pet can bring, not only a change to your routine, but you get their special magic too! I recently got two male rats. Yes, you read right, I have rats in my home and I actually like them! I'd like to share my experience with you. Months ago during a meditation, my guides told me that I needed to get over my fear of rats. I hated rats. They terrified me. All the bad images I had taken in for years in movies and stories had formed my opinion on rats. Big fat, disease spreading vermin living in sewers and terrifying anyone who came across their path. Ooohhh, lucky me, my guides wanted me to get over my fear! So, I began asking around, attempting to get some good information on rats (or ratties as their loving owners gently referred to them). They told me about how ratties are like dogs. Very intelligent creatures, you can train to do stuff and adore attention and love. They sounded like they might be somewhat okay .......... but come on folks ...... keeping them as pets? Are they nuts? I looked at photos of their beloved pets and they looked cute enough, but those tails. Yuck. Those thick, rope-like tails with little hairs on them, the thought of them made my skin crawl. My guides spoke to me again, "You need to get a pet rat." They said it so matter-of-factly. Meanwhile I'm thinking, "Are you INSANE? I'm not getting a rat as a pet. I would have to touch it!" Well, my guides are not ones to give up. During a recent Reiki attunement they were at me again, telling me to get a pet rat. They told me about rat medicine. The ability to see what is unseen. Keen vision. Being able to perceive the truth in a matter. Well, that sounded like something good to have in my home. I decided to go for it. I could get over their tails, couldn't I? I certainly hoped so, since they are very social animals and you do need to spend a lot of time with them every day. I decided to go to the pet store and see what I could find. A new litter had just come in that day. There were about 20 pups to choose from, and we picked two brothers. One is a gray hooded rattie which we named Sage, and another champagne hooded rattie we named Mystic. I was totally surprised how I was over the whole tail issue even before we left the pet store! My guides wanted me to bring this medicine (energy) into my home and learn to work with it and I feel that I've done a really good job of it so far. I adore my ratties and truly enjoy having them in my home. Their magic IS already working in my life. I feel the clarity that has come with their arrival and I cherish the "removing of the veil from a situation" that came with them also. So, I'm certainly not telling everyone to run out and get a pet rattie, (although you just might enjoy them!) but perhaps, if you are desiring change, investigate the magic, the energy, the specific animal medicine each pet may have and see if it will enhance your life. (Please remember, pets are a responsibility and you need to care for them for their entire life span. Most ratties live 2-3 years) In light, Aleesha Stephenson
